Job Description

Position Summary Novi Woods Montessori is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and developmentally focused Infant Teacher to lead our infant/toddler classroom. This role is responsible for providing high-quality care, fostering early development, and creating a safe, engaging, and responsive environment for children ages 6 weeks to 30 months. The ideal candidate combines warm caregiving, strong classroom structure, and an understanding of early childhood development , with a passion for supporting young children during their most critical developmental stage. Key ResponsibilitiesChild Care & Development Provide attentive, responsive care to infants and toddlers Support physical, emotional, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities Follow individualized care routines (feeding, sleeping, diapering) Maintain consistent primary caregiving relationships with assigned children Observe and document developmental milestones Classroom Management Maintain a calm, clean, and organized classroom environment Ensure all licensing rules and ratios are followed Implement daily routines and schedules appropriate for infants/toddlers Follow safe sleep practices and health/safety protocols Parent Communication Communicate daily with parents regarding: Feeding Sleeping Behavior and development Build strong, trusting relationships with families Team Collaboration Work closely with assistant teachers Mentor and guide support staff in the classroom Participate in staff meetings and training Minimum Requirements Required At least 19 years old High school diploma or GED Must meet Michigan Lead Teacher qualifications under childcare licensing rules Must complete (or be willing to complete within 6 months): 45 hours of online infant/toddler development training (MiRegistry) Pass background check and licensing clearance Ability to lift infants and perform caregiving duties Preferred Qualifications CDA, Montessori credential, or Associate's degree (any field) Prior experience working with infants/toddlers
Knowledge of:
Safe sleep practices Attachment-based caregiving Early childhood development Montessori experience (preferred but not required)
Pay:
$17.00 - $21.50 per hour
