Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Control Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will lead efforts to prevent and control infections within our facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors. Your expertise in infectious disease care, microbiology, and epidemiology will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention strategies. Duties Develop, review, and update comprehensive infection control policies and care plans aligned with current public health guidelines and OSHA standards. Conduct thorough patient observation and monitoring to identify early signs of infection or complications. Lead infection prevention initiatives by educating staff on aseptic techniques, microbiology principles, and proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Perform data collection and management related to infection rates, outbreak investigations, and compliance metrics using medical records systems. Oversee the review of medical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement infection control protocols in acute care settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers. Monitor compliance with OSHA standards and ensure all staff are trained on safety procedures related to infectious disease care. Maintain detailed records of infection incidents, care plans, and epidemiological data for reporting purposes. Provide leadership in managing infectious disease outbreaks through timely data analysis and intervention strategies. Skills Critical care experience combined with hospital experience or assisted living settings enhances your ability to manage complex cases effectively. Strong knowledge of microbiology, anatomy, physiology, epidemiology, and medical terminology is essential for accurate assessment and intervention. Proven expertise in data management, collection, documentation review, and medical records handling ensures precise tracking of infection trends. Leadership skills are vital for guiding staff education initiatives and fostering a culture of safety within the facility. Familiarity with acute care environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable. Ability to perform patient observation and monitoring with attention to detail while maintaining aseptic techniques. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, HIPAA compliance standards, public health policies, and infection control best practices is required for success in this role.
