Function of Tool and Die Technician:
Perform duties to repair and recondition molds involving the use of a variety of complex machine tools.
Responsibilities of Tool and Die Technician:
Use repair tools such as punches, files, bench stones, and other abrasive products in working with high precision, high cost components as necessary to repair molds. Set up and use milling machine as required to rework damaged areas of molds and perform other mold modifications of a complex nature. Disassemble, clean, evaluate and repair molds of various sizes and configurations. Remove, refit, and replace guide pins and bushings as necessary. Change cores, core inserts, date pins or date wheels, cams and cam inserts, cavities and cavity inserts on interchangeable molds. Coordinate any necessary outside tooling work, ensuring cost and time parameters are met.
Education/Experience Required of Tool and Die Technician:
Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school At least 1 year of experience in similar environment Experience with forklift and overhead crane operation Proficiency utilizing a variety of measuring tools, hand tools, and milling machines
