Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Inpatient Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our dynamic mental health care team. The PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic interventions for patients in an inpatient setting. This role is essential in delivering high-quality, compassionate psychiatric care to individuals in acute need. This position is full-time, with shifts typically scheduled beginning at 8:00am Monday through Friday, along with one weekend per month (Saturday and Sunday) coverage.
Responsibilities Patient Care:
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients admitted to the inpatient unit. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapeutic interventions tailored to each patient's needs. Provide ongoing monitoring and adjustment of treatment plans based on patient progress and emerging needs throughout their hospital stay.
Medical Documentation:
Accurately document patient evaluations, treatment plans, medication prescriptions, and progress notes in compliance with hospital policies and HIPAA regulations. Ensure that all patient information is recorded comprehensively and in a timely manner.
Communication:
Communicate effectively with patients regarding their treatment plans, medication instructions, and any necessary follow-up care. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive treatment and discharge planning.
Compliance and Confidentiality:
Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including proper documentation practices and patient care protocols. Skills and Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP certification required). Minimum of one year of inpatient psychiatric experience. Proven experience in providing psychiatric care, including medication management and therapy, in an inpatient setting. Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for medical documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and support patients effectively. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric practices and crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
