POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Instructional Supervisor will be responsible for providing support to all teachers in the area of dance curriculum, instruction, and classroom management for Prince George's County Public Schools. The Instructional Supervisor will work on the development, coordination and implementation of all countywide dance programs. The responsibilities of this position include collaboration for program planning and design, cross-curricular collaboration and development of best practices, budget development, and workshops for teachers and administration, development of curriculum and enrichment programs, coordination of field trips, and enrichment opportunities for teachers and students that support instruction. The Instructional Supervisor will assist in ensuring the programs are in compliance with federal, state and local mandates. In addition, the Instructional Supervisor will maintain high standards for students, staff and parent satisfaction within Prince George's County Public Schools. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Provides direct support to all teachers in the area of dance curriculum, instruction, and classroom management; Assists the Assistant Director in both short and long-range planning for the improvement of the instructional programs; Assists the Assistant Director in the development and implementation of a professional development program for teachers of dance, including the designing and teaching of state approved workshops, summer institutes, and after school programs; Assists the Assistant Director in the preparation of curriculum documents, correlation of instructional materials, and units of study; Assists in the selection of instructional materials correlated to state and national standards; Provides regional and school-level workshops on curricular issues and teaching strategies, in collaboration with the Office of Professional Learning & Leadership; Assists with leading programs to assist teachers directly with aligning classroom strategies and instructional best practices; Assists in developing the application for grants; Assists with the planning and implementation of special events in dance education; Assists with the monitoring and implementation of the instructional program district wide; and Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Full knowledge of best practices in Dance Education; Demonstrated competence in developing and leading staff development sessions for teachers, principals, and parents; Knowledge of state and national standards, benchmarks, and alternative modes of assessment; Experience in writing curriculum and assessments desired; Experience in writing and managing grants and budgets desired; Thorough knowledge of instructional pedagogy required; and Demonstrated skill in effective human relations and in oral and written communications.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required; and minimum of five (5) years of successful dance teaching experience required.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Holds or is eligible for a valid professional license in Administrator I (historical) or Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, or Principal issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees and provides guidance to the unit staff.
