Job Description:

The Nursing Instructor will provide classroom and clinical instruction for the Patient Care Program. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, evaluating student performance, maintaining compliance with program standards, and supporting student success in preparation for entry-level patient care roles in healthcare settings. This position includes both classroom and clinical site instruction and may require standing for extended periods, supervising students in clinical settings, and working flexible hours based on program needs.

Qualifications:

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Post-secondary teaching experience or relevant instructional experience preferred. Two (2) years or 4,000 clock hours of wage-earning experience in a hospital setting providing patient care. Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners effectively. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience teaching in a healthcare or patient care program Experience with curriculum development and clinical instruction Knowledge of current patient care standards and healthcare practices.

Responsibilities:

The Nursing Instructor - Patient Care Program shall have the following responsibilities and duties: Provide classroom and clinical instruction aligned with the Patient Care Program curriculum Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments Supervise students in clinical and lab settings Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate records Uphold program policies, accreditation standards, and institutional guidelines Collaborate with program administrators and clinical partners Promote a safe, professional, and supportive learning environment To implement, evaluate and improve the program of study developed by the state and county in the specialization to which the teacher is assigned. To foster a classroom climate conducive to learning. To utilize instructional management systems models that increase student academic achievement. To monitor student progress toward mastery of the instructional goals and objectives. To communicate effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis. To meet professional responsibilities associated with the position. To implement the activities required under the State Department of Education's Technical and Adult Education Services Policies and Procedures Manual and Public Law 94-482. To provide a safe learning environment for students. To maintain equipment in safe, operational order. To sponsor vocational clubs appropriate to the specialization. To assist in placement and co-operative job training for students. To promote and/or assist in promoting their program by dissemination of information and recruitment activities. To complete and submit all reports in a timely manner as required by law, the West Virginia Department of Education and/or county Board of Education. To report the presence of any situation that may be harmful to the health and safety of the students and/or staff. To identify and refer for screening and evaluation any child who has learning deficiencies. To advise the principal of the presence of any situation that may require immediate intervention so as not to hinder the instructional program. To complete duty assignments as designated by the principal. To communicate to parents/guardians the progress and/or deficiencies of students. To accept responsibility for students assigned. To supervise students at all times in accordance with state, county and school policies. To attend all faculty senate and other required meetings. To fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend other required training programs. To take student attendance as legally required and in accordance with county policy. To accept reasonable extra duty assignments necessary for a successful school program. To maintain professional work habits. To maintain and upgrade professional skills.
