Position Summary:

Southern Boone High School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Instrumental Music Assistant to support a growing and dynamic instrumental music program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong teaching ability, a passion for student development, and a commitment to excellence in both performance and classroom instruction.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist the Director of Bands in planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of the band program Co-teach and/or independently direct concert bands, marching band, and other ensembles as assigned Support marching band operations, including rehearsals, performances, drill instruction, and event logistics Provide sectional and small group instruction to enhance individual and ensemble performance Assist with curriculum development, music selection, and student assessment aligned with Missouri Learning Standards Help coordinate concerts, competitions, festivals, and travel Support recruitment and retention efforts through collaboration with feeder middle school programs Work collaboratively with faculty, administration, and band booster organizations Assist with inventory management, uniforms, equipment, and music library organization Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Bands or school administration

Qualifications:

Experience teaching or assisting with concert and marching band programs Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

Specifics:

This is a part-time, stipend-based position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and provided in accordance with the district's stipend schedule.
