Job Description

Insurance Estimating Specialist Alyeska Builders is looking to add an Insurance Estimating Specialist to our rapidly growing team. Focused on creating the most unique, beautiful, and quality-built homes and restoration projects in Interior Alaska, Alyeska Builders is seeking a candidate with professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. This position plays a critical role in ensuring insurance restoration and reconstruction projects are accurately estimated, properly documented, and efficiently coordinated between clients, adjusters, trade partners, and field teams. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, growth-minded, and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Position Summary The Insurance Estimating Specialist is responsible for creating accurate, detailed estimates for residential and commercial restoration and reconstruction projects related to insurance claims. This role works closely with insurance adjusters, project managers, homeowners, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project scopes are properly defined, approved, documented, and executed efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of restoration practices, insurance claims processes, residential construction methods, estimating software, and customer communication. This position requires tenacity, adaptability, professionalism, and a willingness to learn and develop innovative ways to complete tasks, support clients, and assist team members. Typical Daily Tasks Include (but are not limited to) Prepare detailed repair and reconstruction estimates for insurance claims involving fire, water, storm, and other property damage. Utilize estimating software such as Xactimate and project management systems to develop accurate scopes of work and cost analysis. Conduct site inspections and field visits to assess project conditions and document project requirements. Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, and scopes of work. Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with field conditions and project execution. Send bid requests to appropriate trade partners and vendors. Follow up on bid requests to ensure timely responses. Review insurance adjuster estimates and negotiate supplements when necessary. Identify and pursue supplemental items to ensure the full project scope is captured. Submit estimates, revisions, supplements, and supporting documentation in a timely manner. Maintain organized job files including photos, notes, documentation, correspondence, and project communications. Communicate clearly with insurance adjusters, homeowners, clients, vendors, and internal teams throughout the claims and estimating process. Reach out to clients for additional project information when needed. Keep thorough records of all calls, texts, emails, and in-person communications within the project management software. Stay up to date with insurance guidelines, pricing trends and restoration best practices. Communication is extremely important in ensuring our projects operate smoothly. Applicants should have strong customer service skills and the ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. Qualifications & Skills Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with little to no supervision. Effective time management and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and task management abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong negotiation, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Customer-focused mindset with commitment to professionalism and quality workmanship. Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction methods and restoration practices. Familiarity with insurance claims processes and documentation requirements. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and scopes of work. Proficiency with Xactimate is required. Proficiency with estimating and project management software systems. Minimum 2 years of restoration estimating, insurance adjusting, or construction estimating experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of customer service experience required. Growth-minded attitude and willingness to learn. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed. Willing and able to pass a drug test. Willing and able to work overtime and occasional after-hours support when necessary. Preferred Qualifications IICRC certifications such as WRT, ASD, or FSRT. Experience working for a restoration contractor, insurance carrier, or general contractor. Prior experience successfully managing supplemental claims. Knowledge of local building codes and regulations. Additional construction or restoration certifications are a plus. Professional appearance and communication required when interacting with clients and trade partners. Ability to work occasional overtime or after-hours emergency response support when required. OSHA-10 Certification All field and other applicable employees, including but not limited to field staff, foremen, and superintendents, are required to hold a valid OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification prior to beginning employment. If you do not currently possess this certification, Alyeska Builders will provide access to an approved OSHA-10 training course at no cost to you. The training must be completed on your own time and submitted prior to your hire date. Failure to provide proof of completed OSHA-10 training and certification may result in disqualification of hire or termination of employment. Driving Record & Compliance Positions requiring operation of a company vehicle or driving on behalf of Alyeska Builders are subject to motor vehicle record (MVR) reviews upon hire and annually thereafter. Continued employment in a driving capacity is contingent upon maintaining: A valid driver's license An acceptable driving record Compliance with company driving policies Employees are required to report any motor vehicle violation, including but not limited to DUI, license suspension, revocation, or other traffic-related offenses within 48 hours of the incident. Failure to report violations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Continued Education Alyeska Builders is committed to supporting ongoing employee development and maintaining high industry standards. All employees are required to complete at least one company-approved continued education or training course every six months as a condition of continued employment.
