Job Description
This respected hospital is seeking an Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager to guide a dedicated birthing team and support excellent patient care in a fast-paced environment. Ideal for an RN leader who values teamwork, calm decision-making, and practical problem-solving. This Joint Commission-accredited, acute-care, not-for-profit hospital with around 200 licensed beds supports Perinatal services through structured safety programs, interdisciplinary education, and continuous improvement. The setting blends modern facilities with a mission-driven, patient-centered approach, and the Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager plays a key role in that work. The Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Women's and Children's Services and leads charge nurses, RNs, OB techs, and unit coordinators. The role partners closely with obstetric and midwifery providers, anesthesia, neonatology, perioperative leaders, and quality and education teams to meet goals. House supervisors and throughput, infection prevention, and risk management are frequent collaborators as well. The Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager will lead a unit with labor and delivery suites, dedicated OB operating rooms, and nearby mother-baby care.. Energy on the unit is professional and supportive, with 24/7 OB anesthesia and in-house neonatal expertise working alongside engaged nurses and techs under the guidance of the Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager. As the Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager, responsibilities include competency validation, clinical education, mentoring, and adherence to AWHONN, ACOG, and Joint Commission standards while advancing perinatal safety and quality initiatives. Operationally, the position manages staffing and scheduling with acuity-based assignments, partners on budgets and supply stewardship, supports throughput and bed management, and maintains survey readiness. The Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager is expected to step in on the floor when needed, lead by example during surges, reallocate resources to keep care safe, and build trust quickly through clear communication and steady leadership. In a historic Mid-Atlantic harbor city known for museums, vibrant neighborhoods, pro sports, and waterfront weekends, the Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager will find plenty to explore after shifts. Transit access, regional rail, and a nearby international airport make commuting and travel straightforward, while the cost of living compares favorably with many nearby East Coast hubs. Dining, festivals, parks, and cultural venues add balance and convenience. If you're ready to take the next step as the Interim Labor & Delivery Nurse Manager connect with a CMC recruiter today!
