Job Title:
Interiors Mechanic Job Description The Interiors Mechanic performs the disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, installation, and testing of aircraft cabin interiors and related equipment in accordance with technical data, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures. This role focuses on maintaining and installing interior furnishings and structural supports on commercial aircraft larger than a CRJ 900, with experience on Boeing and Airbus platforms, including the Boeing 777. Responsibilities Research and interpret applicable technical data, maintenance manuals, and regulatory requirements to perform disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, and testing of cabin interiors and related equipment. Install aircraft interior furnishings, trim, and accessories, including carpeting, sidewalls, doors, windows, seats, partitions, galleys, and passenger service units according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production procedures to determine accurate measurements, layouts, and installation procedures. Measure and mark installation areas in the aircraft interior using measuring and marking instruments, templates, and appropriate layout techniques. Drill, ream, countersink, and rivet interior components and structures as required for proper installation. Trim and file parts and assemblies using hand tools and power tools to achieve correct fit and finish. Fit and install interior items using hand tools, power tools, and fasteners such as screws, rivets, bolts, and speed nuts. Fabricate and install supporting structural devices such as clips, brackets, angles, gussets, and doublers using shop equipment. Perform functional testing of installed interior items to verify proper operation and fit, and rework installations as required to meet specifications. Perform general maintenance tasks such as repair and maintenance of company equipment and maintaining a clean and orderly shop and work area. Ensure all required training is properly documented in training records and obtain appropriate signatures from leadership as needed. Comply with all FAA, company, and safety regulations, including participation in required drug testing and back ground checks. Travel internationally for required training and complete all related tasks and learning activities during the training period. Essential Skills At least 5 years of experience working on aircraft interiors or closely related aviation maintenance activities. Hands-on experience with commercial aircraft larger than a CRJ 900; experience with Boeing and Airbus aircraft, including the Boeing 777, is strongly preferred. Proficiency in aircraft interior disassembly, repair, cleaning, adjustment, installation, and testing. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production procedures for interior installations. Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for trimming, filing, fitting, and installing interior components and structural supports. Ability to perform drilling, reaming, countersinking, and riveting operations on interior components and structures. Strong understanding of aviation maintenance practices and FAA regulatory requirements related to interiors work. Ability and willingness to travel internationally for approximately two months of training and to obtain or hold a valid passport. Valid driver's license. Ability to pass FAA drug testing and a back ground check. Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds unassisted and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and crawling. Good eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Additional Skills & Qualifications Airframe License or Repairman's Certificate for Interiors and Related Structures preferred. Experience with aviation maintenance environments and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) operations. Familiarity with aircraft interior systems, including seats, galleys, partitions, sidewalls, windows, and passenger service units. Basic personal tool set suitable for aircraft interior and structural work. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship and safety. Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, leads, and supervisors in a fast-paced maintenance environment. Openness to contract-to-hire arrangements, with conversion to direct employment based on performance and attitude. Willingness to work overtime when available, while understanding that overtime is not guaranteed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in an active aircraft maintenance environment across the facility, with work performed both in hangars and on or around aircraft. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the possibility of overtime depending on operational needs. Work requires extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as frequent bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level. Occasional crawling, climbing, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted are required. The environment includes exposure to high-intensity noise levels, changing temperatures, materials identified on safety data sheets, sharp instruments, and moving machinery. Proper use of personal protective equipment—such as goggles, safety glasses, ear protection, and gloves—is required to ensure safety. The role may also involve international travel for training and working with a variety of shop equipment, hand tools, and power tools used in aircraft interior and structural work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marana, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $39.12 - $39.12/hr.
