Intern - Business Associate Team UMass President's Office United States, Massachusetts, Boston May 14, 2026
Primary Work Location:
Westborough, MA, with hybrid work schedule available.
Job Summary:
The University of Massachusetts President's Office in Westborough, MA, offers a Summer 40-hour-a-week internship for students enrolled at the five UMass campuses. This is a paid internship, and academic credit may also be available. The selected intern will work directly with the Business Associates Team (BAT) function within Administration & Finance. Those selected for this internship will gain valuable knowledge of the inner workings of the University of Massachusetts. Interns in the President's Office have the unique experience of working with staff supporting various functions, including the Controller's Office, UPST, HR, Treasury, Travel & Expense, Procurement, Payroll, etc. The objective of this internship will be to support the intern in building and solidifying their procurement, accounts payable, sourcing, contracts, HR, travel, business expense, and general administration & finance business processes while building the overall customer service skills.
Essential Functions:
Support routing cases received by Administration & Finance through calls, case management, chatbot, or email. Support resolution/troubleshooting of various administration and finance-related processes, including but not limited to HR, procurement, accounts payable, sourcing, contracts, supplier management, training, procurement & travel card processing, travel & expense, and general needs of UMass Administration & Finance customers and stakeholders. Understand and implement case/request escalation methodology as needed. Ability to leverage information from Salesforce case management, BuyWays (procurement technology), PeopleSoft, and Concur to help resolve customer needs. Attend mandatory and required training. Support A&F-related projects and perform activities as directed by the department head and mentor. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience): Current UMass student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of study within Marketing, Economics, Accounting, and General Business courses. GPA 3.0 or higher. Creative, eager to learn, motivated, and willing to take initiative on assigned projects/tasks. Reliable and detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be well organized, detail-oriented, and possess good follow-up skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when interacting with staff. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Powerpoint). Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience): Ability to multitask across multiple systems Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools i.e.,
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Working Conditions:
Any offer of an internship within the President's Office is specifically conditioned upon the potential candidate consenting to and completing a background review.
Additional Details:
Hourly rate: $17.00 per hour.
