Internal Review Specialist I

Robinson Economic Services is seeking a detail-driven Internal Review Specialist I to support the Compliance Department within our Tribal Lending Enterprise. This entry-level compliance and audit role focuses on managing consumer-facing regulatory responses (including BBB, CFPB, and Attorney General channels) and conducting internal reviews of lending activities to ensure adherence to policy, procedure, and applicable consumer-protection standards. The Internal Review Specialist I plays an essential role in safeguarding the integrity of the lending portfolio while supporting the sovereignty and operational compliance of the Tribal Lending Enterprise. Regulatory Responses & Consumer Complaints Draft and submit timely responses to customer complaints through CFPB Portal, BBB, and State Attorney General Offices. Research customer histories, account activity, communications, and documentation to prepare accurate complaint responses. Maintain organized records of all submissions, deadlines, and outcomes. Track complaint trends and flag recurring issues for review by the Compliance Manager. Internal Audits & Quality Reviews Conduct scheduled internal audits of the lending portfolio to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations. Review account files, payment histories, customer communications, disclosures, and document retention practices. Identify errors or inconsistencies and escalate findings to the Compliance Manager. Assist in follow-up remediation and process improvements as directed. Documentation & Reporting Maintain clear, complete, and accurate audit workpapers. Prepare summary reports outlining findings, risks, and recommendations. Support the Compliance Manager during internal or external audits by gathering documents and evidence as needed. Policy Support & Team Coordination Assist with updates to internal controls and compliance procedures. Communicate policy expectations with clarity and professionalism to internal teams. Collaborate with operations, customer support, and payment teams to ensure alignment with compliance expectations. Experience in consumer lending, financial services, compliance, auditing, or related field (entry-level with relevant skills considered). Strong written communication skills, especially in preparing clear and professional complaint responses. Ability to analyze data, documentation, and patterns with strong attention to detail. Familiarity with consumer-complaint portals and regulatory interactions preferred. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Proficiency with spreadsheets, basic reporting, and organizational tools. Preferred Skills Knowledge of UDAAP principles and federal/state consumer-lending standards. Prior involvement in audit, QA, or compliance-related work. Experience within a tribal enterprise or regulated lending environment. Travel Requirements Occasional travel may be required for training, team meetings, or compliance workshops (typically 1-3 trips per year).
