Job Description

Description The Inventory Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant management of raw materials, intermediates, finished goods, and packaging components at our Newburyport site. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production flow, supporting safe material handling, and ensuring inventory accuracy within our ERP system. The Inventory Specialist partners closely with Operations, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain to maintain a reliable and well-controlled inventory environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Inventory Control & Accuracy:
Maintain accurate inventory levels for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods in the ERP system Perform daily cycle counts, root-cause discrepancies and implement corrective actions Reconcile physical inventory with system records and support month-end and year-end inventory processes Monitor shelf life, lot status, and storage requirements for chemical materials
Material Handling & Warehouse Operations:
Receive, label, store, and issue materials in accordance with chemical handling and safety procedures Ensure proper segregation, containment, and storage of hazardous materials Support stating of materials for production batches and maintain accurate transaction records Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment safetly and efficiently
Compliance & Documentation:
Maintain compliance with internal SOPs, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA) Ensure proper documentation of lot numbers, COAs, batch records, and shipping paperwork Support audits by providing accurate inventory documentation and traceability
Cross Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Production to ensure timely material availability Partner with Quality to manage quarantined, rejected or non-conforming materials Coordinate with Supply Chain on material shortages, reorder points, and vendor issues
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, material flow, and inventory accuracy Participate in 5S, lean initiatives, and safety improvements Recommend process enhancements to reduce waste and improve efficiency
Supervision Supervision Received:
General supervision in the performance of routine duties. Direct supervison regarding unusual problems, emergency sitiatuations, and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Specific Skills Required:
2+ years of inventory, warehouse, or material-handling experience (manufacturing preferred) Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracles, JD Edwards, etc) Ability to safely handle chemicals and follow EHS procedures Forklift certification or willingness to obtain Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred :
Experience in specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, or regulated manufacturing Knowledge of hazardous materials handling (HAZMAT, DOT) Familiarity with ISO, GMP, or similar quality systems Strong computer skills (Excel, inventory reporting, barcode systems)
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required Associates degree or higher in a related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision - effective day one of employment. 401(k) with company match with immediate vesting - effective first of the month, following date of hire.
