The Opportunity:
The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily inventory operations to ensure accurate stock levels, efficient material flow, and compliance with company procedures. This role leads inventory staff, coordinates cycle counts and physical inventories, investigates discrepancies, and works closely with Warehouse, Purchasing, and Operations teams to support uninterrupted business operations.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Supervise and coordinate daily inventory control activities, including receiving, storage, issuing, and reconciliation of materials Lead, train, and evaluate inventory control associates to ensure accuracy, productivity, and adherence to procedures Conduct and oversee cycle counts and physical inventories; analyze variances and implement corrective actions Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/WMS systems Investigate inventory discrepancies, root causes, and partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve issues Develop and enforce inventory control policies, standard work instructions, and best practices Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock while minimizing excess and obsolete materials Coordinate with Procurement, Production, and Logistics to support material availability and production schedules Ensure compliance with safety regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements Prepare inventory reports and KPIs for management review Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency
What You Need To Succeed:
High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Management, or Business preferred 3-5 years of inventory or materials experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role Strong understanding of manufacturing inventory types (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, MRO) Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Jobcope, IFS or similar manufacturing systems) Strong Excel and reporting skills Strong leadership and shop‑floor supervisory skills High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and process discipline Ability to work cross‑functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Procurement Problem‑solving skills with a root‑cause and continuous improvement mindset Ability to perform in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven manufacturing environment Manufacturing plant and warehouse environment Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift between 35-50 lbs. as required Exposure to production areas, forklifts, and industrial equipment Flexibility to support multiple shifts, overtime, or shutdown inventories Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
