The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily inbound and outbound logistics operations at the Smyrna manufacturing facility. This role ensures timely, accurate, and compliant receipt and shipment of materials, components, and finished equipment in support of manufacturing schedules, aftermarket service needs, and customer deliveries. The position focuses on execution, team leadership, and cross‑functional coordination within an ERP‑driven manufacturing environment.How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
Shipping & Receiving Operations Supervise all daily shipping and receiving activities supporting production, aftermarket parts, and customer orders Ensure accurate receipt, identification, staging, and system processing of inbound materials and fabricated components Oversee outbound shipments of machinery, subassemblies, and parts to meet customer and production schedules Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and handling of materials and finished goods ERP Transaction Discipline (Jobscope) Ensure all receiving, shipping, transfers, and returns are processed accurately and timely in Jobscope Enforce standard work and transaction accuracy for warehouse execution activities Partner with Procurement, Production, and Customer Service to resolve transactional or documentation issues Production & Cross‑Functional Support Support manufacturing priorities by expediting inbound materials required for build, test, and shipment Communicate delays, shortages at receipt, damages, or shipment risks proactively to stakeholders Coordinate closely with Customer Service and Aftermarket teams to meet service and customer delivery commitments Team Leadership & Safety Supervise shipping and receiving personnel, including work assignment and daily execution priorities Enforce plant safety policies, material handling procedures, and housekeeping standards Train employees on standard work, ERP transactions, and proper equipment operation Maintain accountability for attendance, performance, and adherence to procedures Freight, Documentation & Compliance Coordinate domestic and international shipments, including preparation of shipping documentation Interface with freight carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and resolve shipment issues Ensure compliance with customer shipping instructions and internal policies Continuous Improvement Identify and implement improvements related to shipping accuracy, dock flow, space utilization, and throughput Support plant initiatives tied to on‑time delivery, lead‑time reduction, and operational efficiency Provide input on warehouse layout, dock configuration, and material flow improvementsWhat You Need To Succeed:
Strong leadership and organizational skills Ability to manage daily execution in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment Clear, proactive communication with cross‑functional teams Detail‑oriented with strong documentation discipline Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on execution and service Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred 3-5+ years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment Prior supervisory or lead experience required Experience working in an ERP‑driven operation (Jobscope strongly preferred) Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, and material flow execution Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting industrial equipment or engineered‑to‑order manufacturing Forklift and material‑handling equipment certification Familiarity with domestic and international freight coordination Candidates are required to undergo a drug screening after receiving a conditional job offer, but before starting employment.
