Job Summary Mohave County Public Defender's Office is currently recruiting for an Investigator in the Kingman location.

In accordance with A.R.S. § 11-584, the Mohave County Public Defender's Office exists to provide constitutionally mandated legal representation to individuals entitled to appointed counsel. Range 15/Steps 4-8 $25.42 - $28.61Hours:
Monday Through Friday 8 AM - 5 PM (No Weekends/Holidays) This position may require travel to Justice Courts in Bullhead City, Lake Havasu City, and North Canyon, as well as to various posts or job site assignments. The role involves regular interaction with the public, including answering phone calls and assisting visitors such as defendants, members of the public, court personnel, witnesses, and trial experts. Essential Job Functions Confers with assigned attorneys outlining requirements for investigation. Keeps attorneys apprised of the investigations with current, accurate information. Assists attorneys in the preparation of cases for trial based on information obtained and determining additional information required. In preparation of an investigation, reviews case files, police reports, court reports, witness statements, and other related documentation. Based on review of information, determines course of action to be taken to obtain the required information. Performs interviews of clients while in custody or out of custody at the direction of the attorney. Locates and interviews witnesses in dependency and criminal cases. Prepares written reports of investigative findings and maintains accurate, up-to-date records. Examines and photographs crime scenes or other areas and items appropriate to the investigation; locates experts to provide testimonies. Serves subpoenas. Testifies in court as necessary. Assists local, county, state, federal and out-of-state agencies on investigations. Communicate and maintain professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as required. Performs special assignments as requested. Exercise regular and predictable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures. Minimum QualificationsREQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High School diploma/ GED (General Education Degree). Five (5) years progressively responsible investigative experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT
Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads at the start of employment and maintain said license while employed in this position. Must provide acceptable driving history at no cost to the County. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Principles, practices, methods and techniques utilized in the performance of investigative work. Law enforcement principles, practices, methods, techniques and equipment. Relevant laws, rules, regulations, and legal procedures to be adhered to in the performance of investigative work. Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures, and Department Regulation. Interviewing and communicating with clients, colleagues and outside agencies. Applying investigative methods and techniques Gathering, analyzing and evaluating facts and evidence. Use of computers and peripheral devices, pertinent software and Internet resources. Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts. Apply modern law enforcement principles and practices to investigative work. Interview, interrogate, and extract required and valid information from individuals. Utilize investigative techniques. Understand, interpret and apply pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations involved in the performance of investigative work. Comprehend, retain and recall factual information. Perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Evaluate information obtained and determine appropriateness to case. Work independently and exercise patience when dealing with others and in the performance of investigative work. Establish and maintain effective/cooperative working relationships with associate personnel, other law enforcement agencies, witnesses, clients, and the public. Prepare accurate, complete and legible reports and records. Present detailed, accurate and objective oral statements and responses to questions. Understand and follow complex instructions. Fulfill all physical requirements of the class. Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
