Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Business Analyst / Developer supports and enhances critical systems within a manufacturing environment. This role bridges business needs and technical execution, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions across both legacy and modern platforms. The Business Analyst / Developer is collaborative, organized, and capable of translating business requirements into actionable deliverables for development teams and supporting manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with manufacturing, operations, and business teams to gather, analyze, and document system requirements Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications, and hand off to development teams Collaborate with developers, QA, and stakeholders to ensure accurate implementation of requirements Analyze production workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation Design, develop, test, and maintain applications across legacy and modern platforms Support and enhance existing systems, including RPG/CL and legacy Java applications Develop and maintain web-based applications using Spring Boot, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Develop and optimize SQL queries, reports, and data integrations Assist with system integrations between shop floor systems, ERP platforms, and external applications Troubleshoot system issues and support production operations with a team-oriented approach Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and enhancements Required Skills /
Experience:
Proficiency in legacy Java and modern Spring Boot Java frameworks Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Experience gathering and documenting business and system requirements Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment Understanding of system integrations and data flows Experience working within a team-based development environment Ability to analyze complex business processes and recommend improvements Key Competencies Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Effective communication between business users and technical teams Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities Good organizational and time management skills Adaptability in a mixed legacy and modern technology environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with RPG/CL , preferably in an IBM i (AS/400) environment Strong SQL skills for querying and data analysis Experience with manufacturing systems (MES, inventory, production scheduling) Knowledge of APIs, EDI, or integration tools Experience supporting or modernizing legacy systems
