Job Description

Requires successful post-offer completion of a background investigation, physical exam, and drug test (including marijuana/THC) as a condition of employment with the City of Harrisonville. General Definition of Work IT Support Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and functionality of the city's IT infrastructure. This position acts as the first point of contact for technical support, addressing and resolving a variety of IT-related issues. The specialist is responsible for managing helpdesk tickets, providing timely and effective solutions to hardware and software problems, and ensuring the seamless operation of printers and related equipment. In addition to technical troubleshooting, the IT Support Specialist delivers outstanding customer service by assisting municipal staff with their IT needs and providing clear communication throughout the support process. The role also involves documenting support requests, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the development of user guides and technical documentation. Work is performed under the supervision of IT Director Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Respond to helpdesk calls and tickets, providing first-level support to resolve technical issues. Document and track the status of all helpdesk requests and follow up to ensure timely resolution. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems, including desktop computers, and laptops. Perform basic network troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to higher-level support when necessary. Install, configure, and maintain printers and related equipment. Provide excellent customer service to all staff, ensuring clear communication and a helpful attitude. Educate users on basic IT practices and self-service options to improve overall IT literacy. Troubleshoot and resolve printer-related issues. Maintain accurate records of support requests, solutions, and equipment inventory. Develop and update user guides and technical documentation as needed Assist with the set-up and deployment of new computers and IT equipment. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with technology trends and best practices. Performs additional duties as required. Follow city and department policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma Familiarity with basic computer hardware and software troubleshooting. Proficiency with Microsoft and basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Mac OS). CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent. Special Qualifications A valid driver's license upon hire. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Starting pay $21.26 per hour, up to $34.01 per hour plus a generous benefit package. Medical/Dental/Vision
