IT Technical Engineer Level 3

Preferred Data Systems is seeking a full time experienced Level Three Technical Network Administrator to join our very passionate staff of support engineers. The ideal candidate possess a vast experience in computer network services such as servers, switches, routers, firewalls, printing, thin client support, email & database management and wireless support with a focus on VOIP, VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft 365, Office and Azure/Entra. Specifically we have a need for Linux experience and CMMC Certification. Engineer will interact with clients on a daily basis and must be able to work independently. The PDS headquarters is located in Farmington Hills and travel throughout Southwest Michigan is required. May require after-hours or weekend support. A general overview of duties includes: Desktop support Installing, maintaining and supporting a variety of network software and hardware Ad hoc problem solving Hardware integration Providing remote and on-site support to clients in the Metro Detroit Area Server care/maintenance & back-up support Make recommendations on network environments Providing proper documentation for work performed on a daily basis All other duties that may be normally associated with an individual involved in working with computer networks PDS offers a benefits package featuring medical, dental and retirement options as well as training & certification programs.

Education:

Technical 2 or 4 year degree or equivalent demonstrated hands on experience.

Experience:

4-5 years hands-on experience required. This is NOT an entry level position. Industry Engineering product certifications preferred (MCSE, CCNA, etc.) (See required skills).

Required Skills/Desired Skills:

Experience in Linux a plus, as well as CMMC Certification Knowledge of TCP/IP - IGMP, OSPF, ERGRP, routing, and subnetting Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Office, Azure/Entra Desktop support - Windows XP through Windows 11, Acronis, Symantec, Webroot, AVG, Wireshark, Barracuda XDR and Email Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2008 R2/2012/2016/2019/2025, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, File Server, and IIS. Strong knowledge of Hyper-V and VMware Strong knowledge of Veeam, AppAssure, Datto (Storage Craft), Barracuda backups Strong knowledge of SANs - EMC/Equal Logic Strong knowledge of VOIP phone systems Migration experience from legacy systems to current systems Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Must be able to explain technical solutions to non-technical users in a clear, concise, and confident manner. Must be well-organized, accurate and attentive to detail Highly self-motivated and directed Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong customer service orientation Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Ability to type between 30 to 45 words per minute Ability to lift 40 lb. Access to reliable transportation

Additional Requirements:

A+, MCSE, & CCNA

certification. 4 or more years of experience. Minimum of 40 hours per week. The company reserves the right to schedule additional work hours to meet customer demands. Overtime will be communicated as much in advance as possible. This is not an entry level or level one desktop support position. Practical experience with server installs/upgrades and virtual environments required. Technical certifications preferred. You must love learning about new technology!
