Job Summary:

Required:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Must submit copy of diploma or transcripts w/application)
• Minimum of 6 months working experience in a building & mechanical field w/emphasis in basic plumbing & related trades
• Minimum 6 months of janitorial experience
• Complete Certified Unarmed Security Training; must obtain & maintain Certified Unarmed Security Training within initial 90-day probationary period
• Work an irregular schedule
• Basic knowledge of power & hand tools
• Willing to work indoors as well as outdoors in inclement weather conditions & temperature extremes
• Possess & maintain a valid Driver's License, have good driving record & be insurable by employer's vehicle insurance policy (Must submit copy of driver license w/application)
• Adhere to employer's Alcohol & Drug Free Workplace policy
• Accept responsibility of a mandatory reporter
• Indian & Tribal Preference will apply, as per policy (Must submit tribal documentation w/application to qualify for Indian Preference)

Preferred:

• 6 months or more previous experience in security and/or safety training

Certified Unarmed Security Training Position Objectives:

The Janitor/Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of janitorial & maintenance work in Tribal buildings along w/backup security services for Tribal Administration & outlying Tribal Buildings. Duties include; basic electricity, basic plumbing, basic construction, basic carpentry & repair of facilities.

Duties Include:

• Remove cobwebs
• Wash entrance doors inside & out
• Keep area by trash bins clean
• Check around each building/modular for cleanliness
• Removal of snow from sidewalks & pathways; weeding & lawn mowing as required
• Vacuum carpeting in all areas
• Shake out entrance mats & sweep building/modular entranceways
• Empty & replace recycling bags
• Sweep all vinyl floor areas; wet mop vinyl floors w/disinfectant
• Clean & disinfect all washbasin, toilets, & restroom fixtures
• Empty & wipe clean all wastepaper cans
• Dust desks, desk equipment, chairs, office machines, filing cabinets, bookcases, windowsills, ledges, window coverings, tables, baseboards, etc.
• Assist w/driving vehicles to local maintenance shop for repair, oil change & to be detailed
• Operate the maintenance program in the most efficient & cost-effective manner
• Responsible for assuring that buildings are maintained in up-to-date standards
• Responsible for assuring that building is locked & security devices are set & operating
• Ensure that the workmanship performed is completed in a timely manner & is of the highest quality possible
• Perform maintenance services
• Recommend the acquisition, maintenance & inventory of tools & supplies
• Responsible for setting up chairs, tables, PA system, along w/clean-up of building for meetings & special events
• Provide security monitoring
• Monitor assigned areas, buildings & grounds
• Inform violators of policy infractions
• Respond to all emergency situations
• Document all incidents & emergencies in departmental log
