Journeyman Electrician (3-5 Years) Hammonton, NJ $45,000
Working in tiring and uncomfortable positions around electrical power lines; inside and outside.
Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel. Safety Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Work in restricted areas:
switchgear rooms, manholes, vaults, trenches, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics, etc. Work a 40 hour week, overtime, early shifts, night shifts and weekends as required to meet the needs of customers. Respond to emergency calls as needed. Possess or must be able to meet the guidelines to pass and obtain a NJ DOT medical card. Must have and maintain a valid driver license. Must have hand tools; i.e. screwdrivers, nut drivers, allen keys and lineman pliers. Have a good working knowledge of the tasks required to perform all phases of electrical work in accordance with the National Electrical Code. A strong working knowledge of job site safety; as well as learning our company specific safety orientation. Bend conduit using hand benders, mechanical benders or hydraulic benders. Knowledge of the use of power tools, saws, threaders, tuggers, knock punches and any tools associated with the electrical industry. Operate two-handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jackhammers and any other tools associated with the electrical industry. Operate company vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions of less than 26,000 GVW. Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts; electric or gas powered. Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics and blueprints. Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc. Install and connect power supply wiring, cables conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints. Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment. Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader and conduit bender. Receive and complete work orders. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used. Maintain inventory of district-owner tools, equipment and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.Equipment used:
Multimeter, ohmmeter, and testing equipment. Soldering iron; wire puller, pipe bender and threader. Hand and power tools; saw, drill, etc. Trencher Jackhammer Concrete saw Ladders;24ft extension ladder, 16ft stepladder, etc. Light truck or van.Working Conditions:
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and carrying.Working in tiring and uncomfortable positions around electrical power lines; inside and outside.
