Buyer Pay Range:
$19-$30/hour (based on experience and performance) Temp-to-Hire after 90days
Job Summary:
The Jr. Buyer is responsible for procuring raw materials, equipment, and services to support the manufacturing organization. This role actively manages the supplier base, identifies and resolves resource constraints, and ensures timely actions to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Negotiate, process, and monitor standard and blanket purchase orders to achieve cost savings, minimize unfavorable purchase price variances (PPV), ensure on-time delivery, and optimize inventory levels. Communicate daily, weekly, and forecasted requirements with suppliers; obtain delivery commitments and reconcile open order requirements. Expedite delayed orders and inform relevant departments of potential impacts. Maintain Supplier and Item Master records in the ERP system, including pricing, lead times, and minimum order quantities (MOQ). Collaborate with Production, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Product Management, Accounting, and Quality teams to meet product schedule deadlines. Proactively manage finished goods and raw material inventory for assigned areas to maintain target levels. Conduct all purchasing activities in compliance with company policies and objectives, focusing on cost, quality, inventory, and reliability. Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives, including supplier negotiations to reduce overall purchasing, inventory, and shipping costs. Support corporate purchasing initiatives and projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. Minimum of 1 year of purchasing experience. Knowledge of procurement laws, contracts, and compliance. Understanding of purchasing methods, strategies, and best practices. Strong negotiation, analytical, and critical-thinking skills; PPV or make-vs-buy project experience is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and working in an MRP/ERP environment. This role does not offer sponsorship.
