Job Description

The Junior Estimator supports the estimating department in gathering quantities from engineering plans and sending packages to suppliers/subcontractors defining what is needed for pricing on projects. This position will work with Estimators, Project Managers, and Superintendents on multiple projects at one time doing material take-offs using programs such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Agtek, etc. Key Responsibilities Quantity Take-Offs & Estimating Review project drawings, plans, and specifications. Perform detailed take-offs for all land development activities which include but not limited to - concrete, paving, clearing/demo, earthwork, and utilities. Material Pricing & Vendor Coordination Create pricing documents/packages for vendors and solicit pricing. Maintain up-to-date cost databases for commonly used materials. Prepare cost/scope comparison of pricing/bids to ensure full scope is included and present results to manager for selection. Track historical material costs and trends for accurate forecasting. Documentation & Reporting Manage the filing of new projects, change of plans, and change orders in the established filing system Maintain organized records of calculations, pricing, and supporting documentation. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Superintendents. Support pre-bid and post-bid meetings with project stakeholders. Provide timely responses to requests for information (RFIs) related to estimating and materials.
Qualifications Education:
Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Understanding of the site construction industry. Field experience in grading, paving, utilities, concrete, or drainage systems is highly desired. Ability to learn or already use construction estimating software (Bluebeam, Heavy Bid, HCSS, etc.). Knowledge of unit costs, construction methods, and material standards . Excellent analytical skills, use of computers/computer programs, organization, and communication skills . Ability to read and interpret civil/site plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports . Must have valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites. Key Competencies Detail-oriented and highly accurate in calculations. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration. Understanding budgeting, cost control, and project scheduling . Physical Requirements Ability to perform field site visits, including walking over uneven terrain. Occasionally lift or carry materials and sample items up to 25 lbs.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
