Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Juvenile Detention Officer, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of youth in detention facilities. This position offers an engaging opportunity to work closely with young individuals, providing supervision, guidance, and support while maintaining a secure environment. As a Juvenile Detention Officer, you will be instrumental in fostering a respectful atmosphere that promotes positive behavior and rehabilitation. Responsibilities Supervise and monitor detained youth to ensure safety and compliance with facility rules and regulations Conduct regular headcounts, room checks, and security inspections to maintain a secure environment Respond promptly to incidents or behavioral issues, documenting all occurrences accurately Assist in implementing behavioral management strategies and de-escalation techniques Facilitate communication between youth, staff, and external agencies as needed Maintain detailed records of daily activities, incidents, and disciplinary actions Support educational and recreational activities aimed at promoting positive development Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age Must possess a bachelor's degree OR at least a minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours with the expectation of obtaining a bachelor's degree within five (5) years if not already completed Must meet all Administrative Office of Illinois Courts (AOIC) employment requirements Must live in Illinois OR at least within a forty (40) mile radius of the Adams County Court House (i.e. Hannibal, Keokuk, New London, Palmyra, Kirksville, Canton, Kahoka, etc.) This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a meaningful difference in young lives while ensuring the safety of everyone within the facility. Pay:
From $25.97 per hour
