Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract K-8 Disabilities Teacher Mount Carmel, Illinois Education Industry | 2026-2027 School Year Contract Position Position Overview Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated K-8 Disabilities Teacher for an onsite opportunity in Mount Carmel, Illinois for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract assignment will support students with cross-categorical learning needs in either an 8th grade or 3rd grade setting, depending on final district placement decisions closer to the start of the academic year. Candidates must be open to working in either grade-level assignment and comfortable supporting a combination of self-contained and resource instructional environments. The selected educator will play an important role in supporting students academically, behaviorally, and socially throughout the school year. This position is best suited for a professional who values collaboration, differentiated instruction, and individualized student support. The school district strongly prefers applicants who are confident managing challenging behaviors and who can maintain structured, supportive classrooms that promote student growth. Schedule and Contract Details This onsite role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., totaling approximately 39 hours per week. The daily schedule includes a 30-minute paid lunch break along with a one-hour paid planning period built into the workday. The contract dates are August 12, 2026 through May 21, 2027 for the normal school year. Compensation for this opportunity ranges from $37.50 to $55.50 per hour based on education, experience, and overall qualifications. Soliant Education also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, and weekly pay. This is a school-year contract assignment for the 2026-2027 academic term. Position Responsibilities The teacher will provide instruction and support in both self-contained and resource classroom settings serving students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. In the 8th grade assignment, responsibilities may include teaching math and reading during self-contained instructional periods while also supporting science and social studies through push-in and pull-out services. If assigned to the 3rd grade opening, the educator will provide similar academic support while also assisting students during study hall periods as needed across subject areas. Additional duties include developing and implementing individualized education programs, monitoring student progress, collaborating with general education staff, and maintaining accurate documentation. The school is specifically seeking a candidate who can independently write IEPs, create measurable goals, and complete all related special education paperwork confidently and thoroughly. Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt instruction based on student needs are essential for success in this role. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants must hold an active Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBS1 endorsement covering PK-22. Previous experience supporting students with behavioral disorders is strongly preferred, as many students in the program require structured behavior intervention and classroom management strategies. Candidates should be comfortable working with a wide range of disabilities and instructional support needs across elementary and middle school grade levels. The district requires applicants who are fully experienced with the complete IEP process, including drafting goals, writing documentation, facilitating compliance requirements, and managing meetings when necessary. Teachers who have only participated in collaborative IEP writing without independently completing documents may not meet the qualifications for this role. Flexibility and willingness to support either the 3rd grade or 8th grade opening are also mandatory due to potential staffing adjustments before the school year begins.
