Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity shaping the academic and personal growth of students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Working approximately 39 hours each week from 7:40 AM to 3:20 PM (Monday through Friday), you'll benefit from a paid lunch break and a built-in, paid planning period, supporting your ability to deliver exceptional instruction. The assignment spans from August 12, 2026, through May 21, 2027. This role could be in either a 3rd or 8th grade setting, where you'll guide learners in core subjects including math, reading, science, and social studies. Responsibilities will include a blend of self-contained instruction and both push-in and pull-out models. Flexibility is essential, as final grade placement will be determined closer to the start of the school year.

Desired Qualifications:

Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement (PK-22) Experience and comfort with behavior management; many students have behavior disorders Willingness to teach either 3rd or 8th grade Demonstrated proficiency in writing comprehensive IEPs, including setting goals and completing documentation independently Strong instructional skills in multiple academic subjects
