We are a fast-paced, multi-doctor veterinary hospital open 7 days a week and dedicated to providing exceptional medical care and compassionate service to our patients and clients. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a team-focused environment and is passionate about animal care. This is an entry-level position. Previous veterinary experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who is eager to learn and grow within the veterinary field. Weekend availability is required, and hours may expand over time. Position Overview As a Kennel Assistant, you will play an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients while supporting the veterinary team with daily hospital operations. This position is ideal for someone who is motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a high-energy clinical environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist doctors and technicians with daily hospital tasks and animal handling. Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, treatment areas, exam rooms, and surgery areas. Provide clean bedding, fresh water, and litter pans for patients. Feed hospitalized pets and assist with administering medications as directed. Wash and sanitize dishes, laundry, towels, gowns, and equipment. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain cleanliness throughout the hospital and grounds. Follow daily disinfection and sanitation protocols. Monitor hospitalized pets and report changes in condition or behavior to the medical team. Restock hospital supplies and maintain organized work areas. Assist with patient monitoring during anesthesia procedures when needed. Support the team with additional duties as assigned.
Standard Expectations:
Maintain professionalism and compassionate communication with clients, patients, and coworkers. Uphold high standards of sanitation, safety, and sterile technique. Work efficiently in fast-paced and high-stress situations. Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a positive attitude. Accept constructive feedback professionally and contribute to a supportive team culture. Follow hospital procedures, policies, and standard operating protocols. Comfortable using digital platforms including IDEXX Neo, Gmail, and Google Drive.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous veterinary or animal care experience highly preferred. Experience with IDEXX Neo software and IDEXX laboratory systems is a plus. Willingness to learn and grow within the veterinary field. Ability to multitask and work independently when needed. Strong attention to detail and excellent work ethic. Must be able to lift and move 50+ pounds. Weekend availability required.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and cleaning throughout the shift.
