Job Description

Overview The Kennel Technician plays a vital role in providing care and support for animals in a kennel or veterinary setting. This position involves ensuring the health and well-being of pets while maintaining a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess the skills necessary to handle various breeds and temperaments. Duties Provide daily care for animals, including feeding and exercising pets. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Maintain cleanliness in kennels, including regular cleaning of cages and common areas. Assist with administering medications as directed by veterinary professionals. Support pet owners during drop-off and pick-up, providing excellent customer service. Ensure proper animal restraint techniques are used during handling. Assist with record-keeping related to animal care and health status. Collaborate with team members to create a positive environment for both pets and staff. Skills Strong knowledge of animal care practices, including feeding, grooming, and exercise routines. Experience in veterinary settings or as a Veterinary Technician is highly desirable. Proficiency in animal handling techniques, ensuring safety for both animals and staff. Ability to perform basic animal restraint methods when necessary. Familiarity with pet sitting or pet care services is an advantage. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members. A compassionate attitude towards animals, demonstrating patience and understanding in various situations. Ability to work as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Schedule The schedule available would be 2 shifts a week and rotating weekends. This position is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to the welfare of animals and are looking to contribute positively to their care in a professional setting.
