KINDERGARTEN ASSISTANT

Kindergarten Assistants work collaboratively with the Kindergarten Teacher. Assistants co-plan, assess, and instruct students. They are expected to oversee small group instruction and guide students to academic/social/behavioral success.

Responsibilities include:

Instructing children in Kindergarten and assisting the lead teacher in everyday classroom activities; Maintaining a safe and harmonious classroom; Caring for children in a warm and nurturing manner; Coverage of the teacher in her absence; Managing a classroom in conjunction with the teacher; Following the daily schedule/carry out planned curriculum; Implementation of small group instruction; Assisting and monitoring students at recess, bus duty, special, and/or lunch; Collection of student data and monitoring of interventions; Coaching students on appropriate behavior, social skills, and pragmatics. Candidates should be friendly and have excellent communication skills to work closely with teachers and families.
