Job Description

Job Title:
Kindergarten Paraprofessional (half-time)
Reports To:
Building Principal / Designated Administrator(s)
Supervises:
Students as assigned by building administration
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt This is a 4-hour-per-day position following a ten-month work schedule. The role does not include a benefits package, it offers one sick day per month and four personal days annually. Compensation is based on the classified salary schedule.

JOB GOAL
The Kindergarten Paraprofessional supports the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young learners. This position involves assisting with daily classroom activities, helping manage student behavior, and promoting the academic and social development of kindergarten students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree, 32 hours of college credits, or Idaho Para-Educator State Test Certificate required. Experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting preferred. Basic understanding of child development and classroom management. Friendly, patient, and dependable with strong communication skills. Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a team. Physically able to interact with young children at their level (sitting on the floor, bending, lifting, etc.).
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to: Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and practice skills; Monitor student behavior and support classroom routines and procedures; Supervise students during non-instructional times such as recess, arrival, and dismissal; Prepare learning materials, organize supplies, and maintain classroom cleanliness; Provide support to students with special needs as directed; Encourage positive social interactions and model appropriate behavior; Assist in tracking student progress and reporting concerns to the teacher; Follow all school policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines; Operate classroom instructional equipment, standard office equipment, and a personal computer using programs appropriate to assigned duties; Prepare and maintain required records, files, reports, logs, statistics, and documentation; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and staff members, and other District personnel; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Participates in conferences with parents; Performs school ground and other monitoring and safety duties, as assigned; Performs other duties as assigned.

Perform repetitive hand movement in gripping, fingering and hand/wrist/arm movements. All classified employees of the Minidoka County School District #331, including employees in this position, are "at will" employees. The job description/classification specification does not constitute an employment agreement between the District and the employee, and is subject to change by the District as the needs of the District and the requirements of the position change. All employees may be required to perform such other duties as may be requested by their supervisor, department manager or other District official.
