About Us Waters Run Bed & Breakfast and The Barn at Waters Run is a lodging and event space located in lovely, rural, central Maine. In everything we do, we want visitors to Waters Run to feel calm, connected and cared for. While we are not a luxury hotel, our goal is to make everything feel comfortable, effortless and high quality. The 12-room hotel occupies a historic farmhouse which was once part of the F. M. Woolworth estate. With views of an expansive meadow and Cobbossee Lake in the distance, guests are invited to relax and recharge both indoors and outdoors. In addition to a daily buffet-style breakfast and light afternoon appetizers for guests, we host private events and weddings, providing on-site catering for up to 300 guests. We are seeking an experienced, organized Kitchen Manager to oversee all kitchen and food service operations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and hospitality. Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant / Cook to help deliver an exceptional breakfast experience for our guests. This role focuses on preparing high- quality food from scratch with utilizing local, seasonal ingredients. Preparation also includes charcuterie boards and light snacks for afternoon service. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a spotless kitchen, working efficiently in a small team environment, and contributing to a warm, welcoming guest experience. Key Responsibilities  Prepare and cook made-from-scratch breakfast items using fresh, seasonal ingredients  Assist with menu prep, ingredient prep, and daily kitchen setup  Prepare charcuterie boards, light snacks, and occasional catering assistance for events  Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times  Follow food safety and sanitation standards consistently  Manage dishwashing, sanitizing, and proper food storage  Assist with inventory, receiving deliveries, and rotating stock  Work collaboratively with staff to ensure timely meal service  Support special dietary requests and guest preferences when needed Qualifications & Experience  Preferred 3+ years of professional kitchen experience, ideally in an upscale environment  Strong culinary knowledge and solid foundation in cooking techniques  Experience preparing breakfast items from scratch  ServSafe certification preferred  Excellent attention to detail in food presentation and cleanliness  Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-oriented mindset  Ability to work independently  Flexible schedule with early morning, weekend, and holiday availability Physical Requirements  Ability to stand for extended periods  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs  Comfortable working in a warm kitchen environment Schedule & Compensation  Flexible schedules include early mornings, afternoons, and weekends.  Hours vary based on occupancy and event calendar.  Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Employment Terms Employment with Waters Run Bed & Breakfast is on an at-will basis, meaning either the employee or the employer may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
