Under general supervision, is responsible for the complete management of the School Meals Program in his/her building, including the planning, preparation, serving and merchandising/display of all food. Supervises staff, accurately maintains the required system of accountability, involves students, staff and community in school food and nutrition Service activities and other related work as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for work and cleaning schedules. Develop and plan daily menus for the building. Prepare food items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements. Direct assigned staff for the purpose of guiding the individuals in performing their functions in a safe and efficient manner. Help ensure and keep up-to-date to make sure that the Child Nutrition Program comply with all district, local, state and federal laws and policies. Responsible for the training of new personnel and substitutes in their job responsibilities, equipment use, sanitation requirements and safety procedures. May serve on the production line, the serving line or as the cashier. Responsible for accurately keeping all required daily meal records and monthly food and nutrition service inventory for the building. Maintains food and supplies for the purpose of assuring adequate supply to provide the planned meals to students and staff. Responsible for preparing, receiving and storing food/supply orders in an accurate manner. Responsible for understanding the basic principles by which the food and nutrition programs operate. Assists in setting up and the display of the serving line for food service. Assists in cleaning and storing equipment and food supplies as directed by the Manager. Responsible for maintaining health, safety, and sanitation standards for staff, students, and equipment at all times. Responsible for understanding the basic principles by which the school breakfast and lunch programs are operated. Responsible to ensure that meals are ready to serve at the time(s) set by the building administrator(s). Promotes student and staff satisfaction by merchandising and serving meals in an attractive manner and promoting nutrition education and other school food service activities. Performs other job related duties as assigned Responsible to maintain a professional and courteous manner with fellow employees, building staff and students.Other Responsibilities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically present, regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages cooks and substitutes. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assist in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reportsComputer Skills:
Ability to perform basic computer skills, email, calendars, work orders and basic office programs.
