This position plays a critical role in preventing utility damage, service interruptions, property damage, and serious safety hazards. The work requires technicians to investigate difficult locating conditions, troubleshoot problems, make accurate decisions, and complete assigned work within established deadlines. This is an outdoor field-based position that requires physical stamina, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.

Accurately locate and mark underground utilities lines Operate electronic locating equipment and related technology. Read and interpret utility records, maps, locate information, and field conditions. Troubleshoot difficult, congested, or conflicting locate conditions. Investigate discrepancies between utility records and actual field conditions. Complete assigned locate requests accurately and within required deadlines. Take clear photographs and maintain accurate documentation of completed work. Communicate professionally with contractors, property owners, utility personnel, customers, and coworkers. Maintain company vehicles, locating equipment, tools, and supplies. Follow all company safety requirements, operating procedures, and applicable locating standards. Maintain consistent productivity while prioritizing safety and accuracy. Manage daily routes, workload, travel time, and priorities with limited supervision. Recognize unsafe conditions and take appropriate action before proceeding with work. Ask for assistance when conditions exceed your training, knowledge, or equipment capabilities.Qualifications:
Successful candidates should be: Dependable and punctual. Ability to pass background check and motor vehicle record report. Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position. Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions. Detail-oriented and safety-conscious. Capable of working independently. Comfortable operating technology and electronic equipment. Ability to identify and differentiate colors Able to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions. Able to manage time and workload effectively. Willing to receive instruction, accept coaching, and continuously improve.
