Lab Facilitator - Veterinary Technician Associate Degree Program School of Health Sciences, Kinesiology and Sport Studies The Lab Facilitator supports instructional delivery within the Veterinary Technician associate degree program by preparing, organizing, and assisting with laboratory and simulation-based learning activities. This role helps maintain a safe, effective, and compliant learning environment for students as they develop hands-on veterinary skills. The Lab Facilitator works closely with faculty and students to ensure laboratory operations run smoothly and educational objectives are met. Essential Functions Student Support Reinforce faculty instruction during hands-on skill practice. Provide guidance to students regarding proper laboratory procedures and equipment use. Monitor student adherence to safety and animal welfare standards. Assist with skills check-offs, simulations, and competency assessments as directed by faculty. Support students in developing professional behaviors and clinical readiness. Animal Care & Safety Assist in maintaining humane care and handling standards for teaching animals.
Monitor laboratory compliance with:
OSHA standards Radiation safety protocols Infection control procedures Controlled substance regulations Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) guidelines, if applicable Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and biohazard disposal procedures are followed. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or related field. Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) in good standing, where applicable. Minimum of 2 years of clinical veterinary experience. Knowledge of veterinary technician procedures and laboratory safety standards. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Teaching, training, or mentoring experience. Experience in a veterinary educational setting. Familiarity with AVMA accreditation standards. Experience with laboratory inventory systems or educational technology platforms.
