The Laboratory Technician operates a variety of analytical instruments, follows established methods and procedures, and accurately records results in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The position plays a key role in quality control and quality assurance activities that support production, research, and special projects. Responsibilities Perform all assigned routine and non-routine analyses according to the sample schedule, using a variety of laboratory instrumentation and analytical methods. Analyze non-routine samples from customers, research and development, special projects, and pilot plant studies, adjusting and documenting new analytical methods as needed. Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments, including calibrating equipment, troubleshooting issues, and changing out reagents. Learn and apply the details of all relevant standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, environmental procedures, and applicable regulations. Maintain continuous compliance with the food/feed management system and related standards at all times. Experience working in a laboratory, chemical plant, or environmental laboratory environment. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Experience with statistical quality control charting or similar quality assurance tools. Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting instrument issues and investigating questionable results. Ability to work effectively on rotating 12-hour shifts, including both day and night shifts. Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and product quality in support of global food production.
