Job Title:
Lab TechnicianJob Description The Lab Technician will perform laboratory work within a dynamic flavor laboratory environment using formulas provided by a Flavorist. The role involves operating specialized equipment such as spray dryers, homogenizers, and extractors, as well as compounding, filling, packaging, and shipping samples. The technician must maintain strict adherence to safety, compliance, and quality standards. Responsibilities Compound and/or provide samples for customers, chemists, applications, QC, and/or regulatory in a neat and timely manner. Understand flavor formulas and develop procedures to obtain required samples. Clean, sanitize, assemble, and operate pilot equipment such as homogenizers and spray dryers. Interact with Flavorists to resolve formula discrepancies and support development and matching projects. Monitor ongoing workflow with the VP of Business Unit. Perform special projects under the direction of the VP of Business Unit. Work accurately with small quantities of product and raw materials. Utilize good time management skills while working under pressure. Prepare graphs and charts, and keep accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of all samples made. Print and maintain the security of all flavor formula batch sheets. Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment and glassware to maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment. Maintain the laboratory's supply of raw materials and supplies. Comply with all laboratory safety procedures and good lab practices. Produce pilot batch orders for customers. Work under the guidance of the R D Flavor Lab Manager or VP of Business Unit. Essential Skills Degree in sciences strongly preferred. 1 year of lab experience in food or pharmaceutical industries. Proficiency in food science and sensory evaluation. Knowledge of food safety and lab documentation. Familiarity with lab equipment. Strong organizational skills. Collaborative and open-minded attitude. Problem-solving abilities. Creativity in approach. Understanding of chemistry and food chemistry. Work Environment The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 3:30 pm. The facility is clean, modern, and designed to encourage team interaction. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
