REPORTS TO:
SERVICE DIR. JOBDESCRIPTION
Performs all duties or tasks of a Labor I or semi-skilled labor. Periodically perform services or minor repairs to department equipment and vehicles. Operate various motor vehicles for the transportation of supplies, material and/or equipment Periodically operate front-end loaders, backhoes and comparable equipment. Performs snow plowing duties. Complete projects involved with asphalt, concrete, crack sealing, mowing, sign replacement and repairs, landscaping Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the Service Director or by his/her designated representative. In the event there is no Labor I available, the least senior Labor II will be assigned the Saturday recycle yard + 4 days during the regular workweek. Employee will be required to be on call, (rotating basis)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment; safe work practices
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks in a variety of construction and maintenance activities; perform manual labor; learn to operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions, manage time, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure
  • Ability to speak, write and understand the English language with a high degree of clarity and be able to use a standard phone system in a professional manner
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; problem solve
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors
QUALIFICATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; Must have a valid State of Ohio Commercial Driver License (CDL) "Class B" required; "Class A" preferred. Intermediate level experience with operating all types of motorized and non-motorized equipment used in the operational program of the Service Department Proficient level experience with concrete and asphalt

Standing, walking, use hands and fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts or is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, or risk of electrical shock, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and/or vibration.
