POSITION SUMMARY
The Amamoto Lab at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Ocular Genomics Institute, located in the heart of Boston, MA, seeks to hire a Research Lab Tech 1 or 2 to join a growing team of scientists investigating the molecular mechanisms of retinal degeneration and development that can one day contribute to preserving and restoring vision in patients. We are looking for a team player with collegiality, enthusiasm, and organizational skills. There are two main responsibilities for this position. First, with guidance from the Principal Investigator and senior members of the lab, the research technician will conduct collaborative projects to answer research questions in retinal development, degeneration, and regeneration. Second, the research technician will help the Principal Investigator with lab management, which includes duties such as supplies ordering and mouse colony management. - With guidance, execute in vitro and in vivo (mouse) experiments.
- Help maintain the mouse colony, including weaning, genotyping, and clipping.
- Attend relevant meetings.
- Meet regularly with the mentors to review project progress and milestones.
- Plan and deliver a seminar on the project at lab meeting.
- Take administrative (inventory, purchasing, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree (BS or BA). Prior lab experience in any of the following areas: cellular biology, molecular biology, and/or neuroscience is preferred. 2-year commitment is preferred.WORKING CONDITIONS
