Responsibilities:
Maintain and load next generation sequencing instrumentation. Perform quality control on sequencing libraries and sequencing runs Keep detailed notes and observations and recording in LIMS software system. Maintain supply of necessary reagents and consumables required for lab processes. Operation and routine maintenance of molecular laboratory equipment, including automation equipment. Look for process improvement opportunities and implement any successful improvements. Follow company safety policies, protocols, and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment for self and team members.
Job Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field required. Preferred candidates would have minimum of 1 year of related experience, or equivalent levels of relevant education and experience. Experience and working knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid isolation are desired. Experience working in medium to high throughput environments with automation highly desired. Knowledge of next generation sequencing platforms, specifically Illumina and Pacific Biosciences, or genotyping platforms, would be an asset. The ability to work independently based on sample and project deadlines, identify problems and communicate them to supervisors and collaborators in a timely manner is required. Attention to detail and ability to stay focused while performing repetitive tasks is required. Ability to work well with teams as well as independently. Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills are required. Experience with problem solving and process improvement are a plus. Experience with computer systems and standard software programs (excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Self-motivated and goal oriented.
