This role requires specialized knowledge of turf and plant health, meticulous record-keeping, and strict adherence to all local, state, and federal application regulations. The primary goal is to maintain vibrant, healthy landscapes while prioritizing safety and environmental stewardship.
Duties and Responsibilities Chemical Application:
Apply granular and liquid fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides to turf, trees, and shrubs using various equipment, including broadcast spreaders, ride-on spreaders/sprayers, and backpack sprayers.
Diagnosis and Treatment:
Inspect client properties to identify common lawn and ornamental issues, such as insect infestations, disease symptoms, and nutrient deficiencies. Recommend appropriate treatments and preventative care plans.
Safety and Compliance:
Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Ensure all applications comply with EPA guidelines and state licensing requirements. Participate in ongoing safety training.
Equipment Calibration and Maintenance:
Calibrate application equipment daily to ensure accurate dosage and coverage rates. Maintain all application equipment and vehicles in clean, safe, and proper working order.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain meticulous daily records of all services performed, including products used, application rates, weather conditions, time spent on site, and client communications, as required by law.
Client Communication:
Communicate professionally with clients on-site, answering questions about their lawn health, explaining treatments, and providing recommendations for watering or follow-up care.
Inventory Management:
Monitor chemical inventory levels and inform management when restocking is necessary, ensuring all products are stored safely and securely.
Qualifications and Skills Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in turf management, landscaping, or a related field. Previous experience specifically applying lawn care products commercially is highly preferred.
Certifications and Licensing:
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required. Must possess the required state certifications.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of agronomy, soil science, common turfgrass species, weeds, insects, and plant diseases specific to the local region. Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) principles is a plus.
Skills:
Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Physical Demands:
Must be capable of performing physical labor in all weather conditions, including standing, walking long distances, bending, and lifting bags of fertilizer/materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Pay:
$24.00 - $28.00 per hour
