Job Description
General Summary:
Directly responsible for the installation and maintenance of professional landscaping for both residential and commercial projects. Collaborate closely with the foreman to follow project plans and deliver high-quality service. Execute full landscape installations, including planting shrubs, trees, and perennials; spreading mulch and topsoil; installing stone features and fountains; and handling all related materials with care and precision. Apply proper landscaping techniques while safely operating equipment, power tools, small machinery, and hand tools. Maintain strong attention to detail, demonstrate personal integrity, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Exhibit a proactive willingness to learn advanced techniques and adhere to safe operational standards for all tools and machinery. Contribute to the overall presentation and marketing success of each property through quality workmanship and professionalism.Essential Job Functions:
- Execute small- and large-scale landscaping projects homes and businesses.
- Follow landscape designs when available to determine proper placement of perennials, shrubs, trees, fountains, stone and other items.
- Site preparation, which includes, grading, spreading topsoil/compost, straw and other soil amendments, as needed.
- Planting or transplanting shrubs and perennials, using manual and power operated equipment.
- Digging trenches for drainage tiles.
- Maintain established yards by mulching, weeding, fertilizing and trimming/edging around flower beds, walkways, walls and other structures.
- Install rock or other stone.
- Prune and trim trees, hedges, shrubs, using shears, pruners or chain saw.
- Water new plants using hoses, sprinkler system or watering can, if not available on site, ensure you bring watering tools to job.
- Advise customers on planting care and maintenance.
- Maintain and repair tools, equipment and structures such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, benches using hand and power tools.
- Operate & maintain power equipment such as mini track hoes, skid steers, chain saws, hedge trimmers, sod cutters and pruning saws.
- Always follow safety guidelines at the work site and on property.
- Work non-traditional hours when needed (Ex. Some weekends, special events and holidays when needed).
- Deliver extraordinary service to our customers.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned at the end of each day or as often as needed for appearance and proper care of the vehicle and equipment.
- Follow up with foreman or supervisor on routine maintenance.
- Ensure you are in approved attire and demonstrate a professional demeanor to our customers.
- As a Grandma's Gardens team member, you may be given additional duties and responsibilities, as needed. Required Skills
- Education ~ High school diploma
- 3+ years' experience in landscaping or groundskeeping
- Must be able to safely operate machinery and maintain equipment
- Working knowledge of horticulture
- Strong organizational skills able manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to lift 50 + pounds
- Professional demeanor
- Maintain all information regarding the property or business as confidential
- Ability to work in a variety of outside conditions for long periods of time
- Willing to work flexible hours, days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Valid Driver's License with clean record and dependable transportation Hours Varied, may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
