Firefighter/Paramedics work 48/96 shifts, operating out of four strategically located stations, and provide advanced life support (ALS) care while remaining cross-trained in fire suppression and technical rescue. $99,519.72 Annually (Entry Level) to $135,826.33 (Lateral with 20+ years Structural Firefighting Experience)Note:

Safely operate and drive District fire apparatus, ambulances, and support vehicles during emergency and non-emergency operations Respond to emergency incidents including fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials incidents, and public service requests Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) patient care in accordance with District policy, Island County EMS protocols, and medical direction Perform patient assessment, treatment, medication administration, airway management, cardiac monitoring, and transport decisions within scope of certification to maintain paramedic certification hydrant maintenance cleaning, testing, and minor maintenanceTypical Qualifications:
Current Washington State Paramedic certification with the essential function of operating District apparatus and emergency vehicleshire Preferred Qualifications to include: Direct and coordinate patient care activities of Firefighters-EMTs during ALS incidents Perform fire suppression, rescue, ventilation, overhaul, and salvage operations Participate in hazardous materials response at the Operations and Awareness levels Participate in required training, drills, continuing medical education (CME), and OTEP requirements Maintain accurate and timely patient care reports, incident documentation, and required records Participate in medical run reviews and quality improvement activities as required Assist with fire prevention activities, inspections, public education, pre-incident planning, and Maintain readiness of apparatus, medical equipment, tools, and facilities through inspection, Support training and mentorship of Firefighter-EMTs, and volunteer personnel Perform other related duties as assigned Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured under the District's insurance carrier, consistent High school diploma or equivalent Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug screening Ability to successfully pass an in-depth psychological evaluation and background screening prior to Firefighter I certification Hazardous Materials Operations and Awareness certifications Desired Knowledge, Ability and Skills Knowledge of fire suppression techniques, rescue operations, and hazardous materials response Advanced knowledge of ALS patient assessment, treatment, medication administration, and transport decision-making Ability to function effectively under stress and make sound decisions in emergency and time-critical situations Ability to follow medical direction, protocols, and District policies Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, coworkers, and partner agencies Ability to lead and direct EMT-level personnel during ALS incidents Ability to use computer systems and technology for patient care reporting, data entry, Ability to recognize unsafe conditions or practices and take appropriate corrective actionDistrict Information:
Camano Fire serves a population of 17,028 in a 39-square-mile area. We provide advanced life support and basic life support services, fire prevention, specialty rescue services, and public education. We operate four stations, an administration office, and a maintenance facility. Our crews respond to more than 2,500 calls each year, approximately 70 percent of which are EMS . Our team includes 2 Chief Officers, 34 career firefighters (including 3 Battalion Chiefs, 3 Captains and 1 Medical Services Officer), 10 part-time firefighters, and approximately 15-20 volunteer firefighters. We have 5 administrative staff and 3 maintenance positions, all governed by a 5-member Board of Commissioners. Camano Island is 15 minutes west of I-5, accessed via State Route 532. Part of Island County, Camano sits just across the bridge from the town of Stanwood, roughly 60 miles north of Seattle and 30 miles south of Mount Vernon. Camano is an outdoor enthusiast's dream with two state parks, miles of hiking trails, public beaches, and fishing and boating opportunities.Population:
