Job Description
Job Overview Join our dedicated team as an Animal Control Officer and become a vital protector of public safety and animal welfare. In this energetic 40 hour a week role, you will be providing care to the animals being housed at our facility, you will respond to animal-related incidents, enforce local laws, and promote humane treatment of animals in our community. Your position will involve working as a team member as well as working independently on a daily basis. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference every day through active engagement, problem-solving, and leadership in the field. Weekends are required for this position along with a set schedule. Responsibilities Daily cleaning of animal enclosures, disinfecting, normal household cleaning, laundry. Answering phone calls and providing assistance, resources and resolutions to callers. Respond promptly to calls involving stray, injured, or aggressive animals, ensuring swift and safe intervention. Capture and handle animals using humane techniques, ensuring their safety and well-being. Enforce animal control laws, regulations, and ordinances for multiple jurisdictions with professionalism and integrity. Investigate reports of animal cruelty or neglect, gathering evidence and documenting findings thoroughly. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on criminal investigations related to animal abuse or related crimes. Write detailed reports on incidents, investigations, and actions taken to maintain accurate records. Educate the public on responsible pet ownership. Skills Strong animal handling skills with knowledge of humane capture techniques. Ability to perform first aid and CPR for injured animals or humans in emergency situations. Leadership qualities to manage conflict situations calmly and effectively. Excellent report writing skills for documenting investigations clearly and accurately. Valid driving license with a clean record. Conflict management skills to de-escalate tense situations involving animals or community members. Knowledge of animal care standards is a plus.
