GED Full Job Description Foster Assistant-Animal Care Part-Time Hours:
Sunday 10-2, Monday 10-6, Tuesday 10-6, Friday 10-6 $22.74 Do you have animal care experience and enjoy helping both pets and people? We're looking for a compassionate, reliable, hands-on animal advocate who wants to make a difference every day. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a heart for animal welfare, we'd love to meet you. What You'll Do As a Foster Assistant, you'll support Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control's foster and transport programs by helping animals receive the care, attention, and placement opportunities they need while they wait for a foster home, rescue placement, or adoption. Key Responsibilities Match animals with foster homes and support foster volunteers throughout the process. Administer basic medications, vaccines, and treatments while monitoring animal health. Document animal behavior, medical care, and foster information in shelter software. Transport animals to rescue partners, foster homes, and adoption locations. Assist with daily animal care, adoptions, and shelter operations as needed. What You Bring High school diploma or GED. At least one year of experience working with animals. Strong communication and customer service skills. Compassion for animals and a commitment to their well-being. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Valid Driver's License. Experience in animal care, veterinary, rescue, kennel, shelter, or foster environments. Technical Skills & Knowledge Basic computer skills and ability to learn shelter management software. Understanding animal behavior and safe animal handling practices.
