Animal Shelter Director

Gibson County Animal Shelter Director We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to lead our new shelter and our shelter team. This role will be responsible for leading and directing our staff while maintaining the welfare of our animals. Your leadership will drive innovation, ensure compliance and promote a compassionate environment for animals and staff alike. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader committed to advancing animal services through strategic management and impactful leadership. Duties will include but not limited to: Hire, supervise, discipline, train and terminate employees Keep accurate documentation on each employee Maintain personnel policies for employees​ Work with the board on setting salaries for employees Evaluate employees annually Ensure new hires have Valid Driver's Licenses, complete drug testing and background checks Maintain the shelter operation hours Work with the general public for adoption of animals Maintain the shelter property Maintain a professional office atmosphere, all administrative records Work with all special events to raise money for the shelterDirect Service Oversee care and upkeep of animals at the shelter Maintain an appropriate animal population at the shelter—only euthanizing when necessary for the health of the animal (s) Work with the public on all animal complaints Supervise and monitor "on-call" situations Provide education to the public on good animal care, public laws and service of the shelter Research and keep up to date on state and county ordinances to enforce Write citations when necessary Work with rescue groups to place abandoned and homeless animals Maintain necessary documentation for all animal adoptions, euthanasia, rescues, claims, complaints, etc. Qualifications Pass drug test and background check Have valid drivers license and good driving record Love for animals Have flexibility This is a salaried position. $37,500 to 42,500 depending on qualifications.
