GED Driver's License Full Job Description PT Adoptions Specialist Position Overview:
Candidates for this position must be available to work 25 hours/week.
WEEKENDS ARE A MUST!
We cannot commit to a set weekly schedule, but new schedules are published one week in advance. Shifts begin as early as 8:00am and end as late as 7pm. Responsible for greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting potential adopters. Functions as an expert on animals available for adoption. Must have a valid driver's license and submit to a motor vehicle background check. Requires a strong commitment to the mission and purpose of the Lexington Humane Society (LHS) and Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control (LFACC). Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or GED required. This is a non-exempt position reporting to the Adoptions Supervisor.
Key Accountabilities:
Animal Care Prioritizes compassionate and humane treatment of animals Ensures adoption floor is at capacity and an assortment of animals is represented Provides timely, routine aftercare for animals up for adoption Reports animals with possible medical needs to Vet Tech promptly Administers vaccinations and medications to animals Follows animal care standards to clean and sanitize housing for exotic animals Maintains a working knowledge of individual animal health and temperament Updates notes in Shelter Buddy in a timely and detailed manner Checks in and makes identification cards for adoptable animals Completes all activities consistent with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Adoptions Maintains a detailed knowledge of animals available for adoption Ensures all adoptable animals' information and photos are in Shelter Buddy and on LHS website Circulates throughout facility to assist potential adopters Assists customers in selecting appropriate pets following all SOP Ensures adoption questionnaires are completed and reviewed in detail Completes general evaluation of animals prior to completing adoptions Ensures quality five-day follow-up calls are completed Completes adoption paperwork and financial transactions carefully and thoroughly Reviews post-operative care instructions with customers as needed Denies adoptions in a respectful and diplomatic manner when necessary Offers products for new pets to every customer completing an adoption Cleans and maintains adoptions area Customer Service Exemplifies exceptional, inclusive customer service Properly greets every customer Creates a welcoming, service-focused environment in Adoption Center Provides correct information in response to customer inquiries Fields incoming phone calls in a patient and respectful manner Sells LHS merchandise, pet licenses, and pet insurance Cleans and maintains the adoptions area and conference room
