Job Description

Job Overview Responsible for providing daily care for resident cats, cleaning cat living areas and public areas of the shelter, welcoming visitors, conducting adoptions, maintaining records, and responding to inquiries from the public. Works collaboratively with other shelter team members & volunteers and always represents the organization in a courteous and professional manner. Responsibilities Provides food and water to the cats according to shelter feeding schedule. Handles cats with care in accordance with shelter training program. Administers medications to cats when directed by Shelter Supervisor. Regularly monitors cats for signs of disease and distress and reports findings to Shelter Supervisor. Transports cats to and from veterinarian as needed. Works with all shelter personnel to determine which cats are admitted. Cleans and disinfects cages and cleans food and water bowls and litter pans. Launders bedding. Sweeps and mops shelter according to shelter cleaning schedule and does spot-cleaning as needed. Ensures that cat areas, public areas, workspaces, and storage areas are clean and orderly. Welcomes visitors to the shelter, facilitates interaction between prospective adopters and cats, provides information about available cats, and facilitates good matches. Conducts adoption and surrender Interviews, reviews applications, and verifies information with veterinarians and landlords. Responds to in-person, telephone, and email inquiries in a timely manner. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and documentation. Supervises the work of shelter volunteers. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 1 year of related work experience preferred. Compassion for animals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to use common computer applications and the Internet to communicate and gather information pertaining to shelter business. Work Environment Assist with animal medications and vaccines, syringes, needles and other sharp objects considered biohazardous. Work with cleaning and disinfecting agents. May be required to lift or move items weighing up to 50 lbs Hour of Work Schedule will include some weekends and holidays
Pay:
$16.50 - $17.00 per hour
