Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide for the health and safety of the citizens of Grand Prairie through the enforcement of City ordinances regarding animals. This is accomplished by serving in a lead role in the day-to-day operation of the animal shelter; investigating animal cruelty cases; responding to citizen calls for services regarding animal services; and completing paperwork. Other duties include providing customer service to citizens. Investigates animal cruelty cases and bite reports by responding to citizen reports; investigating cruelty and/or bite reports; issuing warrants; preparing court cases; collecting evidence and witness statements; maintaining records; and issuing citations. Provides raving fans service to citizens by overseeing calls for service; dispatching personnel; answering questions; and handling complaints. Serves as lead trainer for new employees. Assists with supervising employees by assigning work duties, monitoring work tasks, and providing counsel to employees as needed. Completes other duties by providing input for standard operating procedures and budget; maintaining records; and overseeing volunteers when needed. Regular and dependable attendance is required. Coordinates transport to wildlife rehabilitation centers or emergency vet clinics.
Education:
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
Experience:
Over one year up to and including two years.
Licenses :
Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
Certifications Required:
Code Enforcement Officer License, Basic Animal Control Officer Certification, Certified Euthanasia Technician, Lead Visual Assessment Certification, Housing Quality Standards Certification
