KENNEL ATTENDANT PAY GROUP

5 City of Seguin Pay Schedule

SUMMARY OF POSITION

: This is work involved in the operation, maintenance and sanitation of the City Animal Services Shelter. This position has extensive interaction with the public and handles cash transactions. Has limited responsibility for keeping records, reports and forms on shelter operations.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

: Essential Duties

• Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes animal holding kennels and runs; Maintains cleanliness of facility both inside and outside fences; Has responsibility for feeding and watering all animals impounded within facility; Receives and processes incoming animals; Assists with the animal adoption program; Completes some standards forms required for the operation of animal shelter; Receives and dispatches calls, and complaints regarding stray, loose, unlicensed, sick, injured, dead or any other complaint that falls under the animal control ordinance; Answers routine inquiries of the public regarding animal shelter or animal services operations; Works closely with the public with animal adoptions, providing information, adoption events and other customer service related activities; Assists Animal Service Officer(s) in performance of their duties as needed; Assists Animal Service Officer(s) with euthanasia; Observes all safety rules and procedures; and Other Important Duties• Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

:

Knowledge of:

the laws and regulations governing the licensing, quarantine, and impounding of animals.

Ability to:

develop and maintain cooperative relationships with the public and com­muni­cate effec­tively, both orally and in writing; operate janitorial equipment; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications, Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, and good driving record.

Physical Ability to:

lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds (i.e bags of dog/cat food); to repetitive bending and kneeling; ascend and descend stairs; and perform strenuous work in the outdoors under adverse weather.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

: High school education, or its equivalent. Experience working with ani­mals is preferred.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED

: State of Texas Class C driver's license. State of Texas Euthanasia Training Course completion and certification required within 120 days of hire date. Basic Animal Control Certification preferred. For full job description click on the attachment

Starting Salary:
