Open Until Filled Youth Diversion Case Manager/ Court Security SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing the Youth Diversion Program, providing court security, serving municipal warrants, and fulfilling the duties of a Police Officer for the City of Aransas Pass, including enforcing federal, state, and city laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The officer will oversee the Youth Diversion Program and ensure compliance with HB 3186, including conducting home and school visits. The officer will serve as the Court Security Officer for the Aransas Pass Municipal Court, conducting threat assessments, performing bailiff duties, transporting prisoners, and ensuring the safety and security of court proceedings. The officer is expected to proactively identify and locate individuals with outstanding municipal warrants and assist the court with resolving pending cases. The officer will also take a forward-thinking approach to enhancing the Youth Diversion Program and developing future initiatives. As needed, the officer will assist Aransas Pass Police Department officers with calls for service and other police-related responsibilities. Qualifications The Police Officer applicant must be fully licensed by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) and in good standing. Candidates must meet the following minimum standards established by TCOLE under 37 Tex. Admin. Code § 217.1: Be a citizen of the United States. Be at least 21 years of age. Have received, from an accredited school, at least one of the following: A valid high school diploma; or A GED. Be fingerprinted for local, state, and national records. Must not have received a conviction, pretrial diversion, deferred adjudication, community supervision, or probation for any of the following: Any offense above a Class B misdemeanor. A Class B misdemeanor if the date of the court order granting community supervision or probation is within the last 10 years. An offense involving family violence, as defined by Chapter 71 of the Texas Family Code. Must not be currently charged with any criminal offense that would bar licensure upon conviction. Must not be prohibited by state or federal law from operating a motor vehicle or possessing firearms or ammunition. Must submit to a City-approved medical examination prior to appointment to ensure the candidate is physically sound and free from any condition that may impair the performance of peace officer duties. Must be free from drug dependency and illegal drug use. Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license and have a good driving history. Must demonstrate good moral character, a stable employment record, and no history of conduct that would affect suitability for employment in law enforcement. Must meet TCOLE mental health requirements, including successful completion of required psychological screening. Must be free from any disqualifying criminal history as defined by TCOLE licensing rules. If prior military service, must have received no less than an honorable discharge. Must have received no less than a general discharge from TCOLE for all previous peace officer employment. Must be free from any TCOLE-mandated license suspensions or revocations. Demonstrate a good working knowledge of computer operations, Microsoft Office software, and technology in general. Demonstrate the ability to independently make and carry out decisions in high-stress situations and with minimal supervision while maintaining composure when handling emotionally charged events. Demonstrate the ability to multitask and transition between tasks efficiently and effectively. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to establish positive working relationships. Special Requirements Two or more years of law enforcement experience preferred. Experience working with juveniles and/or juvenile diversion programs preferred. TCOLE Court Security Certificate or TCOLE Court Security Specialist Certificate preferred.
